The Penthouse

The Rabbitohs fullback was back to his irresistible best on Sunday, setting up a big win over Parra with a star performance that included two tries and a hand in plenty of others. The Bunnies need GI to fire if they’re to make any serious challenge for the premiership, and the signs are good.

Reni Maitua’s face pretty much says it all. Sit down!

The former Red Sox ace has been given the ultimate golden parachute, with the Dodgers picking up the rest of his two-year, $31.5 million contract. The polarising Boston righty will also move out of the super-tough AL East to the pitcher-friendly Dodgers Stadium without those big designated hitters getting in his way.

The outhouse

Another listless, uninspiring performance from the Wallabies in their routine 22-nil loss to the All Blacks. There doesn’t seem to be much happening at Camp Wallaby (I’m sure that doesn’t exist any more, but alas) these days, and even with Argentina entering the new Rugby Championship, Australia could struggle to get off the bottom of the table.

Ah, for the good old John Eales days…

Lance Armstrong’s legacy was built on his ability to fight back. In not contesting the USADA allegations of doping, the 7-time Tour de France winner uncharacteristically stopped the fight, and is (fairly or unfairly) presumed guilty. His ‘Livestrong’ brand, including his foundation which has raised over $500 million in supporting fellow cancer victims, is under threat. Armstrong continues to deny the claims despite growing public cynicism. Regardless of his guilt, Armstrong’s philanthropy should be celebrated. About the other stuff, watch this space.
