England are 7/289 in the first innings of the second Test at Lord’s

Ian bloody Bell. Two Tests, two tons, and Australia is on the back foot (albeit only marginally) after day one at Lord’s.

Ryan Harris

I’m a selection bagger, so I guess credit where it’s due. Ryan Harris was the right call and, body willing, has a huge part to play in the series. Followed up Shane Watson’s* dismissal of Cook with two rippers to dismiss Root (with deviation down the slope) and Pietersen (away).

Harris is back - love it

Harris is back – love it

*Is Watson a better bowler than batsman? Discuss.

Ian Bell

Another 109 from that man Bell.

Good player, pea heart, historically talked out of it against Australia by S.K. Warne.

It’s almost enough to make us want Warney back out there.

Or considering his most rcent effort, maybe not.

“What you gonna do Marlon, you gonna grab some people? You gonna grab some people? F**k you Marlon, f**k you mate.

Ashton Agar

13-2-44-0. Jury remains out. Overshadowed by Steve Smith, but didn’t have a huge deal to work with on a pretty good day one deck. I will be tougher on him in the second dig (unless he scores a hundred, in which case all bets are off).

Day Two

What to expect? Our top order to get off to promising starts without capitalising, before a collapse in the final session leaves us behind at stumps?

Not this time.

Khawaja – runs. Smith – runs. Clarke – yeah, baby – runs.

Today is the day.
